Former President of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association and prominent industrialist Ali Asghar Walika passed away on Thursday at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness. The death of Asghar Walika, former Managing Director of Walika Industries, brought to an end a golden chapter in sports, especially snooker, in Pakistan.

The deceased is survived by his widow, a son and a daughter. His burial will be held on Saturday at the Mewa Shah Cemetery.

Asghar Walika played an important role in the promotion of Pakistan snooker. During his tenure, the Pakistan-India Snooker Series was started, the Asian Snooker Championship was held in Pakistan five times, the World Snooker Championship was held in Pakistan in 1993, and the following year, Pakistan's Muhammad Yousuf became the world champion.

Asghar Velika was also the Senior Vice President of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and the President of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS).

A modern computerized oxygen supply system has been inaugurated at Civil Hospital Karachi.


According to details, under the modern computerized oxygen supply system at Civil Hospital Karachi, oxygen supply will be centrally controlled in forty wards of all five buildings.


A separate control lock has been installed outside each ward, so that in an emergency, the supply to one ward does not affect the other wards. This is the first hospital in Sindh where such a system has been introduced.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb left for the United States to attend the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank.

In addition, he will participate in a regional roundtable organized by the World Bank on the digital transformation of the FBR, in which tax authorities from different countries will present their reform progress.


The Finance Minister will also attend two major events organized by the World Economic Forum, while meetings with his counterparts from China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the United Kingdom are also part of his schedule.


During the visit, Muhammad Aurangzeb will also meet with senior officials from the White House, the US Treasury Department, and the State Department. He will also hold talks with the Chairman of the Congressional Financial Services Committee and officials from the US-Pakistan Business Council, in which investment opportunities and tax proposals will be discussed in Pakistan.


Additionally, the Finance Minister will also meet with representatives of global credit rating agencies, international commercial banks, and investment banks, particularly from the Middle East.


Similarly, he will also visit renowned think tanks such as the Atlantic Council and the Peterson Institute of International Economics, where he will highlight the country's economic prospects in various investment forums and seminars.

The suspect who made a false robbery call to 15 people has been arrested in an operation by the Lari Adda police.


According to details, the caller Ismail told the police over the phone that two robbers came on a motorcycle and escaped after snatching Rs. 531,500 at gunpoint.

Jamshoro police killed 4 robbers who snatched a double-cabin vehicle from Karachi and killed a young man in an operation.


According to Karachi Police, during an exchange of fire between police and car lifters on the Superhighway, the suspects shot and killed a kidnapped youth in a double-cabin vehicle and threw the body out of the vehicle before fleeing. The suspects also fled, leaving behind one of their cars, which was involved in an accident, which the police seized.


Police said that the deceased youth was a resident of Scheme 33, whose murder sparked intense outrage among his family and local residents, who also protested on the superhighway.


DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said that the accused, riding in a white Corolla car, had snatched a double cabin vehicle from a society in Gulzar Hijri Scheme 33, Sachal area, in which they had also taken a young man hostage.


He said that the suspects were turning to one side from a cut on the superhighway when the police signaled them to stop. In an attempt to escape, the suspects' white car crashed into concrete blocks placed on the road, causing severe damage. However, the suspects abandoned the car on the spot. Meanwhile, the suspects boarded a double-cabin vehicle, closed ranks, and started firing indiscriminately at the police.


DSP Sohrab Goth said that the abductees shot and killed the youth and threw his body out of the double cabin vehicle onto the road before fleeing. However, the police recovered the abandoned car of the accused and summoned the crime scene unit to obtain evidence.


He said that the police are checking the vehicle's record using its registration number, but it is suspected that the suspects may have put a fake number plate on the vehicle. However, the police of other police stations were also alerted about the escape of the suspects.


Aurangzeb Khattak said that the deceased youth has been identified as 22-year-old Adnan Akbar.

However, the police are obtaining more information about the incident.


DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said that the car lifters on the super highway who had fled after leaving behind a damaged white Toyota Corolla car had a fake number plate on it, while another number plate was also found in the car.


He said that the police have found 4 SMG magazines and a cap with the word "Police" written on it from the car. However, the police are trying to find out the real registration number of the said car with the help of its engine and chassis number. While fleeing, the accused had left their destroyed car at the said location and snatched a white Toyota Corolla from Bengali Mor, some distance away, under the limits of Site Super Highway Police Station, so that they could provide security to the stolen double cabin vehicle.


DSP Sohrab Goth said that the same white Corolla car, whose owner Faizan was also found by the police, was found in the possession of the four car lifters who were killed during an encounter by the Jamshoro police, and his video statement in this regard has also come to light.


Aurangzeb Khattak said that the owner of the vehicle said that he was a resident of New Karachi and on Friday evening, five suspects in a new black double cabin vehicle, some of whom were wearing police caps, stopped me on the pretext of checking and took me out of the car to be searched, covered my face with a cloth and made me sit in the back seat. They took my car to an unknown location and left. The suspects confronted the Jamshoro police and I have found my car.


He said that the timely action of the Jamshoro police not only brought the 4 car lifters to their logical end, but also recovered both the stolen double-cabin vehicles and the white Toyota Corolla car of citizen Faizan. However, in this tragic incident, the young man Adnan, who was driving the black double-cabin car stolen from the Sachal area, lost his life.


Rawalpindi:

Three people were killed and two injured in a shooting incident during a dispute in the Nowgran area of ​​Kahuta Tehsil.
