Karachi:

Jamshoro police killed 4 robbers who snatched a double-cabin vehicle from Karachi and killed a young man in an operation.

According to Karachi Police, during an exchange of fire between police and car lifters on the Superhighway, the suspects shot and killed a kidnapped youth in a double-cabin vehicle and threw the body out of the vehicle before fleeing. The suspects also fled, leaving behind one of their cars, which was involved in an accident, which the police seized.

Police said that the deceased youth was a resident of Scheme 33, whose murder sparked intense outrage among his family and local residents, who also protested on the superhighway.

DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said that the accused, riding in a white Corolla car, had snatched a double cabin vehicle from a society in Gulzar Hijri Scheme 33, Sachal area, in which they had also taken a young man hostage.

He said that the suspects were turning to one side from a cut on the superhighway when the police signaled them to stop. In an attempt to escape, the suspects' white car crashed into concrete blocks placed on the road, causing severe damage. However, the suspects abandoned the car on the spot. Meanwhile, the suspects boarded a double-cabin vehicle, closed ranks, and started firing indiscriminately at the police.

DSP Sohrab Goth said that the abductees shot and killed the youth and threw his body out of the double cabin vehicle onto the road before fleeing. However, the police recovered the abandoned car of the accused and summoned the crime scene unit to obtain evidence.

He said that the police are checking the vehicle's record using its registration number, but it is suspected that the suspects may have put a fake number plate on the vehicle. However, the police of other police stations were also alerted about the escape of the suspects.

Aurangzeb Khattak said that the deceased youth has been identified as 22-year-old Adnan Akbar.

A spokesperson for the Chhipa Foundation said that the brother of the deceased Adnan in the car snatching incident was also injured by the accused and has been shifted to a private hospital in Clifton for immediate medical attention, while the body of the deceased young man Adnan has been shifted to his residence in Scheme 33 by the Chhipa ambulance.

SHO Sachal Amin Khosa said that the accused had kidnapped young Adnan from outside his house in a double cabin vehicle in Scheme 33 and on receiving this information, his brother Anas chased the accused in another vehicle and the accused also opened fire on him, as a result of which he was injured. However, the police are obtaining more information about the incident.

DSP Sohrab Goth Aurangzeb Khattak said that the car lifters on the super highway who had fled after leaving behind a damaged white Toyota Corolla car had a fake number plate on it, while another number plate was also found in the car.

He said that the police have found 4 SMG magazines and a cap with the word "Police" written on it from the car. However, the police are trying to find out the real registration number of the said car with the help of its engine and chassis number. While fleeing, the accused had left their destroyed car at the said location and snatched a white Toyota Corolla from Bengali Mor, some distance away, under the limits of Site Super Highway Police Station, so that they could provide security to the stolen double cabin vehicle.

DSP Sohrab Goth said that the same white Corolla car, whose owner Faizan was also found by the police, was found in the possession of the four car lifters who were killed during an encounter by the Jamshoro police, and his video statement in this regard has also come to light.

Aurangzeb Khattak said that the owner of the vehicle said that he was a resident of New Karachi and on Friday evening, five suspects in a new black double cabin vehicle, some of whom were wearing police caps, stopped me on the pretext of checking and took me out of the car to be searched, covered my face with a cloth and made me sit in the back seat. They took my car to an unknown location and left. The suspects confronted the Jamshoro police and I have found my car.

He said that the timely action of the Jamshoro police not only brought the 4 car lifters to their logical end, but also recovered both the stolen double-cabin vehicles and the white Toyota Corolla car of citizen Faizan. However, in this tragic incident, the young man Adnan, who was driving the black double-cabin car stolen from the Sachal area, lost his life.
