Former President of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association and prominent industrialist Ali Asghar Walika passed away on Thursday at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness. The death of Asghar Walika, former Managing Director of Walika Industries, brought to an end a golden chapter in sports, especially snooker, in Pakistan.

The deceased is survived by his widow, a son and a daughter. His burial will be held on Saturday at the Mewa Shah Cemetery.

Asghar Walika played an important role in the promotion of Pakistan snooker. During his tenure, the Pakistan-India Snooker Series was started, the Asian Snooker Championship was held in Pakistan five times, the World Snooker Championship was held in Pakistan in 1993, and the following year, Pakistan's Muhammad Yousuf became the world champion.

Asghar Velika was also the Senior Vice President of the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and the President of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS).

Meanwhile, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association Chairman Alamgir Sheikh, other officials, and international players including world snooker champion Muhammad Asif have expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Asghar Velika and prayed for his forgiveness.


Pakistani mountaineer Asad Ali Memon has achieved a historic feat by completing his journey to summit the highest peaks of all seven continents.


According to details, mountaineer Asad Ali Memon completed the world-famous Seven Summits Challenge by climbing the highest peak in Oceania.


Asad Ali Memon climbed Mount Elbrus in Europe in 2019 and Aconcagua in South America in 2020.


The Pakistani mountaineer climbed Africa’s Kilimanjaro in 2021 and North America’s Mount Denali in 2022.


In 2023, he climbed Mount Everest, the highest peak in Asia and the world, while earlier this year he also climbed Mount Vinson in Antarctica.


38-year-old left-arm spinner Asif Afridi will make his Test debut in the first Test match against South Africa.


According to media sources, the Pakistan team management has decided to field a possible seven batsmen, two regular fast bowlers and two spinners in the first Test.

Pakistan Hockey Federation Secretary General Rana Mujahid Ali Khan has said that there is an urgent need to establish a Pakistan Hockey Board (PHB) for the revival and financial stability of the national sport in the country.

The Pakistan Junior Hockey Team made a brilliant start to the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup, proving their superiority over host Malaysia.


Pakistan defeated Malaysia by a huge margin of seven goals to two in the opening match.

The series will start on October 12, 2025, while the mobile app of this platform will also be released for British users in the last week of October, through which fans will be able to enjoy cricket by downloading the 'PCB Live' app on their mobile phones and smart devices.
