After continuous poor performances and defeats, the salaries of star players began to become a burden on the Indian Cricket Board, the richest in the world.
According to media reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to make a major change in the salary structure of players and now the salaries of players will be directly linked to individual performance.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to take strict action on the issue of taking families on tour, under which no one, including family members and girlfriends, will be allowed to travel with players.
Board officials believe that having wives and families stay with players during the tour affects their performance. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, many cricketers were on the tour of Australia with their families.
Selector Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma, along with other board members, were present at the board meeting regarding the changes in players' salaries.
Under the new law, the Indian Cricket Board will deduct the salaries of players who perform poorly on the field.
On the other hand, under the new rules, the player's wife and family can now stay for only 14 days during a 45-day overseas tour, while this stay will be reduced to just 7 days on short series and tours.
Apart from this, the Indian board has also made a rule that no player will be allowed to travel separately during the tour. For the past few years, some Indian players have been traveling separately instead of the team bus. Importantly, now the players will travel only in the team bus. No matter how big a player is, he will not be allowed to travel separately.
