The Cyber Crime Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has said that eight suspects who shared fake photos of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz have been arrested, who belong to a specific political party, and material sent by Shahbaz Gul and Imran Riaz has been recovered from their mobile phones.
In Lahore, FIA Cyber Crime Circle Additional Director Sarfaraz Chaudhry and Assistant Director Zawar Hussain held a press conference regarding the investigation into the issue of sharing photos of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and said that a joint task force has been formed to take action against those who shared photos of the Punjab Chief Minister and the President of the United Arab Emirates.
FIA officials said that content was shared on social media platforms from the United States and other countries.
The Additional Director FIA said that 8 cases have been registered in this regard and 8 of the accused named in these cases have been arrested so far.
He said that posts by Shahbaz Gul and Imran Riaz Khan were recovered from the mobile phones of these accused and these accused were sharing their posts.
The FIA official said that the accused are remorseful for their actions, and that our values and the respect of women were not taken into account on social media.
He said that we have written letters to other countries for details of servers to arrest the accused. We will not forgive anyone involved in this.
He said that we will arrest these suspects from abroad. These suspects are affiliated with a specific political party. Their profiles show that they are politically motivated.
The FIA's Joint Task Force presented three suspects before the media.
Additional Director Cyber Crime Wing Lahore Sarfaraz Chaudhry said that the distinguished guest from the United Arab Emirates came to Pakistan on January 5, and people are running campaigns while sitting abroad.
Regarding the arrested suspects, he said that 3 suspects were arrested from Lahore and suspects have also been arrested from other districts.
He said that the material sent by Shahbaz Gul was recovered from the accused's mobile phone. Imran Riaz also used the accused to send material.
He said that I have been given the task of covering the whole of Pakistan, a joint investigation team is working in all provinces, the accused have created fake IDs on Facebook.
Sarfaraz Chaudhry said that more data on the accused is being received, the accused will also be brought from outside Pakistan, and the passports and ID cards of the accused will be blocked.
He said that after Shahbaz Gul and other accused are declared wanted, they will write to Interpol, the anti-national conspiracy will be foiled, people from a particular political party were sitting outside and running a campaign.
Additional Director Sabir Crime Circle said that we will continue our efforts, we have also written to Interpol against Adil Raja, the number of arrested accused who ran the campaign is 8, most of the YouTubers' followers are from India.
He said that action will be taken against anyone who makes a fake video and makes it go viral. Those who make a deepfake are guilty of a crime, those who share it are also accused, and those who like and re-share it are also accused of cybercrime.
He said that actions are also underway against those who commit financial fraud, millions of rupees have been recovered in 2024, international fake numbers are also being sold, there was a plaintiff in 2021, the money was returned to him in 2024.
