The Indian army killed 12 civilians in the state of Chhattisgarh under the guise of a so-called military operation against rebels.

According to Indian media, security forces conducted a search operation by closing the entry and exit routes in areas of Bejapur district of Chhattisgarh state.

The Indian army says the operation was carried out against pro-Maoist rebel fighters, in which 12 gunmen were killed in the encounter.

On the other hand, eyewitnesses claim that women were among those killed in the Indian army's firing, while all those killed were local residents.

So far, the Indian army has failed to prove its claim of recovering weapons or any contraband from the killed individuals.

A few months ago, in a similar military operation, women and children were killed in Indian army firing, while 26 militants were claimed to have surrendered and been arrested.

It should be noted that movements for secession from India are growing stronger day by day in several states in India, including the states of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Mizoram, and Manipur.
