A complaint was filed against Indian filmmaker Hemant Kumar by a TV actress on charges of sexual harassment, drugging her, recording private videos, and blackmailing, after which the filmmaker was arrested.
According to Indian media reports, the actress has filed a case against Bengaluru-based filmmaker Hemanth Kumar on charges of sexual harassment, cheating and threats.
The report stated that the Rajajinagar police have arrested filmmaker Hemanth Kumar based on the actress's complaint and the investigation revealed that he had also violated court orders by continuing to post derogatory posts about the actress on social media without her consent.
The filmmaker has been remanded in judicial custody and is being investigated.
The actress has alleged in the petition that the filmmaker drugged her with alcohol, recorded private videos, and blackmailed her.
The report stated that the incident took place during a promotional event in Mumbai in 2023.
The actress claimed that Hemanth Kumar offered her the lead role in the film Richie in 2022 and signed a contract for two lakh rupees and gave an advance of 60 thousand Indian rupees, while due to delays in shooting, the filmmaker allegedly pressured her to wear nude clothes and record obscene scenes.
He said that when he refused to do all this, the filmmaker started threatening him and his mother to intimidate him.
The actress made serious allegations against Hemanth Kumar, claiming that he laced her drink with an intoxicating substance and recorded her without her consent, using the videos to blackmail her and pressuring her to record inappropriate scenes in the film.
The actress further said that Hemanth Kumar posted clips recorded during the shooting of the film on social media without my consent and even made her personal information public.
Hemanth Kumar is known as an emerging filmmaker in the Kannada film industry and has worked as a director in films and is considered a good storyteller. He has worked in regional films and is a supporter of new themes and bold scenes on screen in the industry.
The report said that Hemanth Kumar is gradually strengthening his reputation in the South film industry and is gaining attention for his unique style of storytelling.
