The historic agreement between Israel and Hamas under US President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan has received reactions from leaders around the world.

The heads of various countries have called the ceasefire and the release of hostages a "major success" and "the first step towards lasting peace."

US President Donald Trump said in his statement, "I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of our peace plan. This means that all hostages will be released soon and Israel will withdraw its forces to the agreed lines. This is a strong first step towards peace."

He thanked Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, saying, "Blessed are those who establish peace."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement a "great day" for Israel, saying, "We will not rest with China until we bring back all our hostages and achieve our goals." He praised President Trump's leadership and the sacrifices of the Israeli military.

Hamas said in its response, "We appreciate the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, Turkey and US President Trump. We urge the occupying government to fully abide by the agreement and not delay its implementation." Hamas paid tribute to the sacrifices of its people and said, "We will continue the struggle until freedom and sovereignty."

Qatar's Foreign Ministry announced that "all points of the first phase of the ceasefire have been agreed upon. This agreement will pave the way for an end to the fighting, the release of hostages and prisoners, and the delivery of aid."

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the progress, saying, "We welcome the agreement on the first phase of President Trump's peace plan. We hope that this initiative will prove to be the foundation for lasting peace for the people of Gaza."

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said, “This moment has brought peace and hope around the world. It is essential that this agreement is implemented quickly and fully and that restrictions on humanitarian aid are lifted.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the agreement, saying, “I commend the diplomatic efforts of the United States, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey. All hostages must be released in a dignified manner, and a permanent ceasefire must be ensured. This fighting must end forever.”

"This is an essential step towards lasting peace. We call on both Israel and Hamas to continue on this path," said New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters.

This global response shows that after years of war in Gaza, the world is now hoping for real peace, a peace that is not just on paper but on the ground.
