The historic agreement between Israel and Hamas under US President Donald Trump's proposed peace plan has received reactions from leaders around the world.
The heads of various countries have called the ceasefire and the release of hostages a "major success" and "the first step towards lasting peace."
US President Donald Trump said in his statement, "I am proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of our peace plan. This means that all hostages will be released soon and Israel will withdraw its forces to the agreed lines. This is a strong first step towards peace."
He thanked Qatar, Egypt and Turkey, saying, "Blessed are those who establish peace."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement a "great day" for Israel, saying, "We will not rest with China until we bring back all our hostages and achieve our goals." He praised President Trump's leadership and the sacrifices of the Israeli military.

Hamas said in its response, "We appreciate the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, Turkey and US President Trump. We urge the occupying government to fully abide by the agreement and not delay its implementation." Qatar's Foreign Ministry announced that "all points of the first phase of the ceasefire have been agreed upon. This agreement will pave the way for an end to the fighting, the release of hostages and prisoners, and the delivery of aid."
