Islamabad:

The Election Commission of Pakistan suspended the membership of 139 members of the Senate and Provincial Assembly for failing to submit their returns.

The ECP has suspended the membership of 2 members of the Senate and 16 members of the National Assembly.

The members whose membership has been suspended include Mian Muhammad Azhar, Tariq Bashir Cheema, Akhtar Mengal, Mian Azhar, Mehboob Sultan, Ali Qasim Gilani, Tahir Iqbal, and Farrukh Altaf.

Similarly, the membership of 68 members of the Punjab Assembly has been suspended, including Sahibzada Ghazeen Abbasi, Farhat Abbas, and Javed Kausar.

The membership of 15 members of the Sindh Assembly has been suspended, including the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman.

The membership of 33 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has been suspended. Similarly, the membership of Senator Muhammad Qasim and Abdul Quddus has also been suspended. The membership of Provincial Ministers Adnan Qadri, Meena Khan, and Fazal Elahi has also been suspended.

The membership of 5 members of the Balochistan Assembly has been suspended.

The Election Commission has suspended membership for failure to submit annual returns for the fiscal year 2023-2024. As a result, members of the Senate and Provincial Assembly will not be able to participate in legislation and meetings until their membership is restored.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has informed the Chairman Senate and Speakers about the suspended members.
