27 defendants filed appeals against their sentences in the military court.

According to Express News, 27 accused from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa named in the May 9 incidents have filed appeals against their sentences in the Military Courts in the Court of Appeal through Qazi Anwar Advocate and Barrister Sarwar Muzaffar Shah.

In the appeals filed in the Court of Appeal, the accused have maintained that the appellants in the cases were arrested on May 9 and their trial was conducted in a military court. On January 4, the military court sentenced the accused.

The appeal stated that the accused were not given a full opportunity to acquit themselves and other legal requirements of the trial were not met. The appellants were not given a fair trial. It is unconstitutional and illegal to try civilians in a military court, while the appellants were also deprived of their fundamental rights during the trial.

The appeal filed in the Court of Appeal requested that all appeals be granted and all accused be acquitted of the charges.
