Islamabad:

The court directed that the review petition regarding Imran Khan’s facilities in prison be scheduled for hearing.

According to Express News, the objection to the review petition filed by the founder of PTI regarding prison facilities was removed, upon which the Islamabad High Court, dismissing the objection of the Registrar's Office, directed to schedule the petition on Monday.

Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petition with the objection of the Registrar's Office, in which PTI founder Faisal Farid Chaudhry's lawyer appeared in court.

The court inquired what challenge you have made. The lawyer said that we have challenged the trial court order in this regard. The court, overruling the objection of the Registrar's Office, directed to fix the petition for hearing on Monday.

The petition argued that on January 10, Special Central Court Judge Shahrukh Arjumand issued an order regarding jail facilities. The court should direct the trial court to prevent misuse of the order and fulfill the requirements of justice in accordance with the law and the Constitution.

The petition further stated that despite being a high-profile prisoner in the jail, facilities are not being provided. The behavior of the jail authorities is against the constitution and law, facilities should be provided as per the law. The petitioner should be directed to ensure weekly phone calls with his children. Similarly, books and daily newspapers including The Express Tribune should be provided for reading material.

The petition requested that instructions be given to ensure weekly scheduled meetings with the family and lawyers as per the petitioner's entitlement under the Prison Act and the Pakistan Jail Rules 1978.
