Women and children among those killed in landslide on passenger bus
A dangerous landslide following heavy rains in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh swept away a passenger bus.
According to Indian media, the accident occurred in a mountainous area near Bilaspur district when a large part of the mountain suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Unfortunately, a passenger bus was also passing by at the same time, which fell into the ravine along with the landslide and was buried under the debris.
Difficult routes and bad weather hampered rescue efforts. About two dozen passengers were taken to the hospital.
The hospital administration told the media that 15 passengers were brought dead after the accident, while 3 died during treatment. The dead included women and children.
The Chief Minister expressed regret over the accident and said that some passengers are still buried under the debris and rescue operations are underway to find them.
According to Indian news agency ANI, the bus has been completely destroyed and rescue teams are removing soil and rocks with the help of heavy machinery.
It should be remembered that a few days ago, 24 people were killed in torrential rains and landslides in another state, West Bengal.
These recurring incidents show that various parts of India are currently facing extraordinary risks due to severe weather conditions and rainfall.
