Significant progress has been made in the ongoing indirect talks between Israel and Hamas in Egypt, in which the parties may reach an initial agreement.

A Palestinian source confirmed that negotiations have almost reached an agreement on the release of about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of the remaining 48 Israeli hostages.

Sources have further said that the negotiations have entered their final stages and a formal announcement is expected soon.

Meanwhile, Sky News Arabia claimed that US intervention to reach an agreement on the first phase of the talks increased after it received “positive signals” from Qatar and Egypt on the situation on the ground.

The Turkish Foreign Minister also says that a ceasefire could be announced by this evening after a formal agreement between the parties.

Sources say that issues related to the disarmament of Hamas and the administrative structure of Gaza after the war will be discussed at a later stage.

Sources said that President Trump is putting pressure on all parties so that the negotiations can reach a conclusion quickly.
