The country's first female Chief Justice has been appointed as the country's interim Prime Minister.

Nepal's parliament was dissolved after the country's first female Chief Justice, Sushila Karki, 71, was appointed as interim prime minister.

According to the international news agency, the prime minister has already resigned as a result of public protests against corruption and social media bans.

The army has taken control of the capital, Kathmandu, while former prime ministers, cabinet members, parliament and courts have been burned.

However, Nepal's politics has once again been shaken. A statement issued by the President's Office said that the parliament has been dissolved. New general elections in the country will be held on March 5, 2026.

It should be noted that shortly before this, the appointment of an interim Prime Minister for a month was also announced, for which the draw has been made in the name of the former female Chief Justice.

President's spokesperson Kiran Pokhriyal said that on the recommendation of the interim prime minister, Parliament has been dissolved and the election date has been set for March 5, 2026.
