A massive fire in Los Angeles, California, has severely affected Hollywood and its awards season.
According to foreign media, the Oscar Awards ceremony, scheduled for March 2 this year, is likely to be canceled for the first time in history.
Major events such as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Tea Party, the AFI Awards Luncheon, and the Critics' Choice Awards have already been postponed due to the fires in Los Angeles.
According to media reports, the final decision on the cancellation of the Oscars will be made by a committee of Hollywood celebrities, including Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, and Steven Spielberg.
Sources have claimed that it would be inappropriate to celebrate in the current situation, especially when thousands of people in the city are facing broken hearts and irreparable losses. Although it is hoped that the fire will be extinguished by next week, it could take months for Los Angeles to recover from the tragedy.
The fires have so far claimed 25 lives and destroyed thousands of homes. The homes of many Hollywood celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Mark Hamill, and Anthony Hopkins, have also been engulfed in flames.
It should be noted that the announcement of nominations for the 97th Academy Awards has already been postponed from January 17 to January 19.
