Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials are awaiting medical reports for national team opener Saim Ayub to be included in the Champions Trophy squad.

In the second Test match of the series played in Cape Town, the short third man tried to chase the ball over the boundary, during which national team opener Saim suffered an injury due to a twisted right ankle near the boundary line.

After the end of the series against South Africa, Saim Ayub left for London for treatment along with assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, where, on the instructions of the chairman, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have specialist sports orthopaedic doctors from England check him up.

According to media reports, Saim Ayub has met with Dr. Lucky Jayaseela, a consultant trauma and orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon, in London to assess the nature of his injury.

National team assistant coach Azhar Mahmood was present with Saim Ayub during the consultation. A follow-up assessment with Dr. David is scheduled for Thursday to determine the extent of his recovery and possible timelines for his return to cricket.

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi says that opener Saim Ayub is a valuable asset of Pakistan cricket, all possible resources will be provided for his treatment. I pray for the cricketer's speedy recovery.
