A light aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff at Shell Harbour Airport in New South Wales, Australia, killing three people.


According to media reports, the plane took off at around 10 a.m. It was a private plane bound for Bathurst.


Just moments after takeoff, the plane banked to the left at an altitude of about 30 meters before hitting the ground and catching fire.


Three people, whose identities have not yet been released, were killed in the accident. According to one report, the dead included a couple and a 73-year-old man. According to other reports, the dead included builder Andrew Connors and his wife, Julianne.


New South Wales Police and the Australian Railway Transportation Safety Bureau have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.


According to initial analysis, the plane did not rise very high above the ground and the cause of the crash may have been some technical malfunction or control problem.
