The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a review petition in the Islamabad High Court regarding prison facilities.
PTI founder Faisal Farid Chaudhry's lawyer filed a review petition in the Islamabad High Court. The petition has taken the position that on January 10, Special Judge Central Court Shahrukh Arjumand issued an order regarding prison facilities. Despite being a high-profile prisoner, facilities are not being provided in the prison. The behavior of the prison authorities is against the constitution and the law. Facilities should be provided as per the law.
The petition has requested that the court directs the trial court to prevent misuse of the order and fulfill the requirements of justice in accordance with the law and the constitution. The petitioner should be directed to ensure weekly phone calls with the children. Books and daily newspapers including Express Tribune and another English newspaper should be provided for reading. It should be directed to ensure weekly scheduled meetings with the family and lawyers as per the petitioner’s entitlement under the Prison Act and Pakistan Jail Rules 1978.
