Islamabad:
Lawyers raised objections to the speedy trial of the case in the acquittal petitions in the Toshakhana II case.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the acquittal petitions of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Tosha Khana II case in the High Court, with objections from the Registrar's Office.
The petitioners' lawyer, Advocate Salman Safdar, appeared in the hearing, while Imran Khan's sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan also arrived in court for the hearing.
At the beginning of the hearing, the court inquired what were the objections to the application, to which lawyer Salman Safdar said that the objection was raised that certified copies were not attached. All orders have been attached with certified copies.
The lawyer told the court that there are 3 trial hearings a week. Trial hearings are being held outside of court working hours. It is unfair to hold trials 3 times in a week. The trial court was trying to dispose of the case in the winter. There have been 7 witnesses, the court has retained 3 witnesses for today as well, the trial is progressing rapidly. The trial is being held for the fourth time in the same case.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb said that Bushra Bibi's signature on the application is not available, get it done. Do you want this court to order the trial court not to conduct a speedy trial?
The lawyer replied that until our application is assigned a diary number, the court should make such an order.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that this is what I am asking, can this court give such a direction to the trial court? Later, the court directed the lawyer of the founder of PTI and Bushra Bibi to remove the objections to the application.
