By April, Pakistan will become the country providing the cheapest electricity in the region, Owais Leghari

Islamabad:

The PTI walked out of the house after opposition leader Omar Ayub was not allowed to speak in the National Assembly. They raised slogans like "Why did you shoot?" and even pointing out the quorum did not work. The speaker announced that he would not yield to pressure.

The Ministry of Energy said that electricity theft worth Rs 12.485 billion was revealed during the last year 2024. When the National Assembly session began under the chairmanship of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Omar Ayub tried to speak on a point of objection during the question hour. The Speaker said that it has been decided that there will be no point of objection during the question hour nor will the quorum be indicated. PTI member Yousaf Khan indicated the quorum, which turned out to be complete.

Federal Minister for Energy Owais Leghari claimed that the PTI walked out of the House because it knows how many good reforms we have made in the energy sector. It has reduced the price of four rupee units across the country, and is going to reduce it by eleven rupee units. By April, Pakistan will become the country providing the cheapest electricity in the region.

During the meeting, not only PPP members but also some PML-N members criticized their own government. Agha Rafiullah called both the government and the opposition incompetent. PTI Chief Whip Aamir Dogar demanded that a judicial commission be formed on the incidents of November 26 and May 9. On January 13, 2024, blood was shed during the election process. Our election symbol was snatched away. The injustice we are facing is unparalleled.

While PPP Member of National Assembly Shazia Marri said that May 9 was and will remain a dark day, the meeting was adjourned until 2 pm today.

In addition, the Ministry of Energy presented details of electricity theft in 2024 to the National Assembly, which revealed that electricity worth Rs. 12.485 billion was stolen last year, Rs. 5.83 billion was recovered from electricity thieves, and 62,452 electricity thieves were arrested.

Details of taxes collected by K-Electric on electricity bills were presented in the National Assembly. Do the citizens of Karachi know that eight types of taxes are being collected on their electricity bills, and four different types of GST are being collected from consumers?

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented a report in the House, stating that 10,279 Pakistanis are imprisoned in various Saudi prisons. In the last three years, 253 Pakistanis have been released with the help of philanthropists.
