Digital fraud, order to summon DGs of IB and FIA

Islamabad:

The Islamabad High Court withdrew its order summoning the Director Generals of the IB, FIA and the Chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission on Friday.

The order had called them for a judicial inquiry into organised digital fraud. The new order has declared the appearance of senior officials in court premature.

However, a notice will be sent to the Punjab IG Police to appoint an informed officer to assist the court regarding the FIA's claim. The FIA claims that despite contacts with the Punjab IG, the police did not provide the FIA with evidence to take action against the suspected gang.

According to the report, more than 100 victims had approached the Islamabad High Court for the formation of a judicial commission based on a report by the Punjab Special Branch, according to which a suspicious gang extorts money by trapping youth on charges of blasphemy.

The aforementioned gang is the complainant in 90 percent of the cases registered with the FIA.

This gang also includes women. They have formed an organization called the "Legal Commission for Blasphemy" and work under it.

The same methodology and similar stories have been described in other blasphemy complaints registered with FIA Cyber Crimes, with 70 percent of the more than 400 victims of these complaints being youth.
