Islamabad:

A Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed the deaths of several Pakistanis in the migrant boat accident and said that the embassy is in contact with local authorities.

A statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson said that the Pakistani Embassy in Morocco has reported that a boat carrying 80 passengers from Mauritania has capsized near the Moroccan port of Dakhla.

He said that several Pakistani citizens were also on the boat and that many survivors, including Pakistanis, are living in a camp near Dakhla.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that our embassy is in touch with local authorities and an embassy team has been dispatched to Dakhla to facilitate the affected Pakistanis.

He said that the Crisis Management Unit has been activated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed the relevant government agencies to provide all possible facilities to the affected Pakistanis.
