UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has welcomed the Gaza ceasefire agreement and appealed to the parties to fully comply with all the terms of the agreement in order to establish lasting peace in the region.
The Secretary-General said that now is the time to ensure a permanent ceasefire and end the fighting forever.
According to Antonio Guterres, it is essential to ensure the unhindered entry of humanitarian aid and essential commercial goods into Gaza so that the affected people can recover.
Antonio Guterres added that the United Nations will fully support the full implementation of the agreement and take practical steps to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian assistance. He expressed his determination that the world body will use all its resources for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Gaza.
The UN Secretary-General called on both Israel and Palestine to make progress towards a two-state solution to establish lasting peace, so that the two nations can live side by side in peace and tranquility.
Meanwhile, this agreement is also being hailed as a significant breakthrough at the international level. It should be noted that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of the US-proposed Gaza peace plan.
US President Donald Trump said in a statement on social media that under the agreement, all hostages will be released soon, while Israeli forces will withdraw in stages according to the agreed line.
This development is being hailed by the international community as an important step towards lasting peace in the Middle East, but observers say that real success will be possible only when both sides seriously implement all the provisions of the agreement.
