Washington:
US officials have confirmed that the United States is sending about 200 military personnel to Israel, who will be part of a civil-military coordination center being established to monitor the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, provide humanitarian aid, and provide security and logistical cooperation.
According to Arab media , officials said on condition of anonymity that this coordination center, headed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM), will be established in Israel, from where humanitarian aid, reconstruction and security matters in Gaza will be monitored.
US officials say that the mission will not only involve US soldiers, but also experts from partner countries, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the private sector.
According to a senior official, US troops will not enter Gaza directly, but will provide assistance in areas such as transportation, security, planning, logistics and engineering while staying in Israel.
Another US official said the troops are coming from different parts of the world and are in the process of arriving. The officials will begin initial planning for the center in the next few days.
