Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the long-awaited announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza.
In a post on the social networking website X, he praised the tireless efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Egypt and other countries in making the agreement workable.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and other war-torn areas is extremely important.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement would be implemented in a spirit of mutual respect.
He said that Pakistan expresses solidarity with the Palestinian people and pays tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives and property in the struggle against Israeli aggression over the past several decades.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's call for a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with UN resolutions.
