UN Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, describing it as a deadly assault on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
In a statement issued on the social networking platform 'X', António Guterres expressed deep shock over the Houthi attack on Riyadh airport on Saturday and condemned it in the strongest possible terms.
The UN chief stated that, according to reports, 12 people were killed and hundreds of civilians injured in the attack. He remarked that targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure violates international law and that such attacks must cease immediately.
António Guterres’s statement comes as various nations issue statements condemning the attack on Riyadh airport and expressing support for Saudi Arabia.
