Israel, in a display of traditional bravado, said that the bodies of Hamas leader Muhammad Yahya al-Sinwar and his brother Muhammad al-Sinwar would not be returned.
According to the international news agency, Israeli officials told the media that the return of the bodies of the Sinwar brothers is not possible under any circumstances. This matter is not included in the prisoner exchange.
This was told to Hebrew media by an Israeli source who is aware of the ongoing negotiations on Gaza.
It should be remembered that the Palestinians of Gaza want to bury their beloved, courageous leader and brave soldier, Yahya al-Sinwar, in the Holy Land with all due respect and dignity.
On the other hand, Hamas has made it clear that the agreement must include the release of not only ordinary prisoners but also high-level Palestinian leaders.
According to Egyptian negotiating sources, Hamas has directly added the names of several prominent Palestinian prisoners to the list.
Among the prominent figures Hamas has demanded the release of are Abdullah Barghouti and Marwan Barghouti, top Hamas commanders currently serving life sentences in Israeli prisons.
In addition to them, they have also demanded the release of Hassan Salama, Ahmed Sadat, Ibrahim Hamid, and Abbas al-Sayed.
In response, Israel refused to release Marwan Barghouti, while it has rejected the return of the bodies of Yahya Sinwar and Muhammad Sinwar.
Meanwhile, Hamas has made it clear that if the ceasefire agreement is to be sustainable, the release of key figures will be a prerequisite.
