Washington:
US President Donald Trump has indicated that decisive progress is being made towards a ceasefire in Gaza and that Hamas has agreed to several important issues.
He said that an agreement is expected soon, which could pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, President Trump said that we are making great progress. Hamas is agreeing to points that are very important.
He said that world leaders, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Jordan's King Abdullah, have welcomed the peace plan.
Trump said he had not instructed Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu not to take a tough stance in any deal regarding the hostages, but that all sides in the negotiations were moving in a positive direction.
During the conversation, President Trump once again reiterated his claim to prevent wars through trade agreements and tariff policies.
He said, "We stopped seven wars through trade, including one between Pakistan and India, in which seven planes were shot down."
