Restrictions have been imposed on foreign tourists visiting the northeastern Indian states of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram due to security concerns.

Restrictions were eased in 2011 to promote tourism in these areas, but 13 years later, these restrictions have been reimposed due to tense conditions.

According to new instructions issued by the Union Home Ministry, "The Protected Area Regime has been re-imposed to control and monitor the movement of foreigners in the states of Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram."

The Protected Area Permit requires details such as the tourist's point of entry, residence, and duration of stay. Foreign tourists will be required to register with the Foreigner Registration Officer within 24 hours.

By using illegal immigrants as a political weapon, the BJP government has tried to divert public attention from security issues.

The Indian government has taken these steps in view of the deteriorating security situation in these states, but the Indian government wants to hide the deteriorating situation in these states.
