After years of bloodshed in Gaza, a ceasefire agreement has finally come into effect. According to Egyptian media, this historic development took place at 2 pm Pakistani time, when the Gaza peace agreement reached between the parties became practically effective.

Egyptian broadcaster Cairo TV reported that the ceasefire and military operations in Gaza have stopped after the implementation of the agreement.

Egypt's Foreign Ministry described the development as an "important and critical moment," saying the talks in Sharm el-Sheikh had provided a decisive turning point in the Gaza war.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati is reported to be traveling to Paris, where he will attend a ministerial meeting on the situation in Gaza to further strengthen the peace process.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that the ceasefire will take effect this evening after formal ratification by the Israeli government. According to an Israeli official, the release of 20 Israeli hostages in Gaza is expected on Sunday or Monday, which is being described as the first practical step of the peace agreement.

On the other hand, according to foreign news agencies, the signing between Hamas and Israel is expected today. Sources said that the parties will formally sign the agreement by noon, after which the partial withdrawal of the Israeli army will begin within 24 hours.

In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for two special meetings to approve the agreement, while the Israeli military has confirmed that preparations for implementation have begun.

Families of the hostages in Tel Aviv expressed hope, calling the agreement "a positive step towards peace."

Meanwhile, in the streets of Gaza City and Khan Younis, war-weary citizens were seen hugging each other and congratulating each other on the agreement. Their faces showed a glimmer of hope for peace after years.

It should be noted that yesterday, US President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform that the signing of the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas had been completed, and expressed the expectation that the process of returning the hostages would begin on Monday.

This development is also being welcomed at the international level. The UN Secretary-General, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and other world leaders have said that this agreement is a promising effort towards establishing peace in the Middle East, which could prove to be the beginning of a new era for the region.
