Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed regret over the death of 40 Pakistanis in a migrant boat accident in Spain and sought a report from the relevant authorities.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and regret over the accident of a boat traveling from West Africa to Spain.

The Prime Minister prayed for the highest ranks of the Pakistanis who died in the migrant boat accident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.

According to the statement, the Prime Minister has sought a report on the incident from the relevant authorities and said that strict action will be taken against those involved in heinous acts like human trafficking.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that no negligence of any kind will be tolerated in this regard and that strong measures are being taken against human trafficking.

It should be noted that a migrant boat traveling from Africa to Spain suffered an accident, with 86 people on board, 66 of whom were Pakistanis, while 44 Pakistanis were among the dead.

According to reports, the boat that was involved in the accident set off from the African country of Mauritania on January 2 and had 86 people on board, but 36 people were rescued.

Helena Malino, CEO of Walking Borders, said on X that 44 of those who drowned were from Pakistan who spent 13 days in agony at the crossing but no one came to save them.
